Journeys in Hòn Cau

Hòn Cau lies northeast of Côn Sơn island. It is one of the 16 islands of the Côn Đảo archipelago and part of Côn Đảo National Park.

The waters around the island have coral reefs close to shore. On calm days the water is clear, ideal for snorkeling among fish and coral. Hòn Cau is also a sea-turtle nesting site during the nesting season.

The trip is usually by speedboat from Bến Đầm port, with a swim at the white-sand beach and a midday rest on the island. To protect the reef, please do not stand on coral or take coral or shells home.

The national park may pause snorkeling at some reefs to let the coral recover; when that happens, the itinerary moves to another spot.
